Re: B10 V8, ULEZ and Obtaining a certificate of conformity?

On the TFL web site, there are various ways you can prove you vehicle is compliant and exempt from ULEZ fees. I assume B10 V8 owners are early adopters? Euro emissions standards for ULEZ Cars, motorcycles, vans and minibuses: petrol - Euro 4, diesel - Euro 6 Buses, coaches and HGVs: diesel - Euro VI...

Re: ALPINA wheel valves

What 1/8 x 28 BSP helicoil kit did you use in the end? Can you recommend one? I had a look around and could only find 3 different ones: Uni-Thread 00478, V-Coil VC04190 (that does not include the 25/64" drill bit) and a Recoil kit. Alloywheelsdirect in their description for these valves restate the ...

Re: B10 V8 Transmission fluid change cost

I asked an indie about this rumour that it is better never to change the ATF fluid on an E39 auto box and he said this is all based on the GM box that is fitted to smaller engined E39s which is prone to wearing down into a black goo inside as the gearbox is not robust so if you change the oil you ar...

Re: Lepsons Wheel Refurbishment - A Review

How common is it to get tiny bubbles on the surface of the centre caps with refurbers in general? Is it something one should reject by default or is it fairly common to get them even at a good refurber? I asked Alpina about the wheel colour on E39 B10 V8s with either 18 or 19" classic wheels and the...

Re: E39 B10 V8S springs

Thanks, I should have looked before asking really, and whilst there was a lot of useful information in there, it did not address that particular question, but I was just curious. Cheers.

Re: E39 B10 V8S springs

Thanks. I am surprised there would be that much difference in weight depending on options, I assume we're just talking a few extra modules in the boot or similar.

E39 B10 V8S springs

Hi there, is anyone able to tell me what the part numbers are for the front and rear springs for a B10 V8S saloon please? I had a look in the catalogue and there are 2 part numbers for front springs and 2 for rear, all applicable for both the V8 and V8S, but each part number shows a quantity of 2, w...

Re: E39 B10 V8 pusher fan

the E53 X5 has the same thermostat, water pump, V-belt and pulley but different coupling, fan and radiator. Perhaps the new fan is designed to work with a new rad, but the X5 one seems to be 4cm thick so a tropical one You're looking into this in even more detail than me, I basically used the logic...

Re: E39 B10 V8 pusher fan

You're looking into this in even more detail than me, I basically used the logic that the E53 uses the M62 engine and same water pump as our engine so the coupling and fan would fit and work (and they do) :) Yeah I'm being very anal about it, I am just trying to look for differences and reasons why...

Re: E39 B10 V8 pusher fan

The aux pump is used for the internal heating and I think it forms part of the heater valve on the E39, it's situated on the passenger side turret under the bonnet: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=DN62-EUR---E39-BMW-540i&diagId=64_0691 It's not really part of a cooling system refresh ...

Re: E39 B10 V8 pusher fan

I think the aux pump was moved from the engine bay on the E39 to the side of the radiator when the M62 was installed in the E53 but does the same job so don't think it affects anything from our perspective I went through all the cooling system diagrams on realoem when specifying all the parts for t...
