Noises are very subjective however it does sound remarkably similar to what I had with my E46 B3s, that turned out to be the lock up clutch in the torque converter, mine had done a similar mileage to yours at the time. I can recommend Auto Trans in Gloucester but that might be a bit far for you. Fin...

I did something similar on my old B3s. I took it to my local exhaust fabrication place (not Kwik Fit or the like). They took the whole system off and made two new pieces from the cats forward. Apart from it being new and shiny you wouldn’t have been able to tell it didn’t come from Buchloe. Tota...

£2k more than I sold it for.

Still a good car though.

Replaced it with a TVR Tuscan and sometimes wish I hadn't!

I had mine refurbed rather than a new one (lock up clutch failure), they are Alpina specific and it was cheaper than any other route. Got Auto Trans Gloucester to do the whole thing as I didn’t feel like taking the box out on the drive.

Sytners have had the car and can't find where the oil is going. :( That's because they're a bit *&%$, a decent mechanic rather than a service guy should be able to tell why it is losing oil, did they even check the compression or do a leak down test? What was the error code that caused the EML to l...

I replaced one on my B3s cab, super easy, done from underneath, undertray off, drain, belt off, pipes off, couple of bolts, swap the pulley over put back on, refill and bleed the system by going from lock to lock a few times. Just make sure you get the right pump, there is more than one variant of t...

It was definetly from the exhaust and the oil level has dropped. Can see like.custard liquid out of.exhaust and few oils drops. But Coolant level seems fine. Will upload the video link shortly. I think it was but looking at it again looks like could have been the emissions light. Was the square sha...

In addition to what others have suggested it would be good to have the fault codes read to see why the EML came on. Very few of the issues mentioned above would light it up. Are you sure it was the EML? If it comes on it doesn’t usually go off without the car being stopped and the ignition turned ...

That's ridiculous money especially considering the front bumper won't fit for toffee, the facelift wings are wider and a different profile, bet that bumper sticks out half an inch each side on a pre-facelift car.

Have you got the suspension at ride height when you torque the bolts up?

If you tighten everything with it in the air at full drop it’ll tear the bushes apart in no time.

You'll need to replace the nuts at the same time as the washers, as they're likely to be worn. If it's really bad you may need to change the sprocket studs too. 91 47 1 136 225 For the Alpina washer 07 11 9 900 910 Nut Proper procedure to change here: http://www.beisansystems.com/procedures/single_v...

Before you go to the trouble of taking everything apart might be worth checking it's not just the two rubber hoses at the back of the engine, see top of photo:

It may take you more than a day depending on what else you find that's wrong. I'd plan it over two weekends if you can so you can draw up a parts list of stuff that you find needs doing. The two points I can think of when I did it that probably aren't mentioned are: 1. When you take the inlet manifo...
