Does have two VIN numbers on the strut tower though.

Maybe the original 3.3 engine failed for one reason or another and replaced with an M54B30?
Those were my thoughts - everything looks right apart from the engine.

Just looked up the parts catalogue and indeed you can get an extra 5mm spring seat. Learn something every day.
Indeed!

Is this just for the OSR spring?

Re: Ride Height

Never bothered to investigate as I've never noticed an issue with handling - despite my own OCDness.

Re: Ride Height

The story goes that this is more a case of the left side being 5mm higher so that when the German driver sits in the car, it levels out...

Dark now up north, I’ll take some tomorrow after I’ve cleaned it. Unfortunately the 3 mile journey home took me 25 mile.
Well, you've got to make sure the oil is properly warmed up ... 😀

Mine does that too!

Only option is to refurbish or replace the wheel, I'm afraid.

Alphabetti Spaghetti

BMW E numbers were just about understandable and lasted a fair few years. However, I haven't got a clue where we are at now! F numbers appeared - to be expected when we had got up to E9x for the 3 series - but now we've got a mix of F and G numbers littered all over the place and my little brain can...

Re: Confused by Cleaning

Like most things in life, you need to have decent foundations. In the case of cars, that making sure the base paint layer is prepared and protected. After that, it takes little effort to keep it looking good - and your routine is fine - but applying polish on a poor base surface won't solve the prob...

Re: Onboard monitor - OEM?

Some interesting points, Henry. If I planned to have a garage Queen that gets brought out on high days, holidays and is entered into concours competitions, then OEM all day long but that's to maintain originality. However, in my case, I do 20k miles a year in my B3S and I want a decent sound system ...

Re: Onboard monitor - OEM?

The N7 is touchscreen too and is essentially plug and play as the OEM sockets fit straight into the back of the unit. This includes HK amp and multi CD player located in the boot, if you so wish. The only cabling that will need to be routed to the back will be the DAB aerial but this can run behind ...

When my morning commute in the Thames Valley at 6am has temperatures below 7oC.

Normally this is early to mid November but is likely to be sooner the further north people are.

Re: Onboard monitor - OEM?

Replaced my radio cassette unit with a Dynavin N7 almost two years ago and love it. Now I have phone, nav, iPod in one place with full interactivity with steering controls.

Added bonus is that the unit is designed to match BMW look/feel/buttons etc so most people think that it's OEM from a distance.

Re: D3 Bi Turbo engine N47 Power loss EGR delete ?

Be aware that the latest MOT rules include a specific check on deletion of the DPF. For me, money spent on fault diagnosis is probably well spent given a number of possible causes to help you narrow the focus. You could get your own fault code reader but I suspect it will cost more than the £65 quot...
