A service manager recommending you change the oil more often than is necessary? Surely not! Changing the oil more often than the recommendation for your own peace of mind is fine if that's what you want to do, it certainly won't do any harm, but modern long life oils are perfectly capable of p...

Thankfully that's not true, the aftermarket always catches up and those expensive replacements become cheap(er) repairs. Been hearing the same protestations of electronic module doom for decades, hasn't happened yet and I doubt it ever will. That said, there is usually a crossover point where cars a...

I'll... erm... "store" one of them for you. How about the M5, you can use it whenever you want, just give me 24 hours notice ;)

Sounds like sensible best practice when replacing a turbo on a modern diesel. Turbo failures tend to contaminate the oil, the DPF or both. What's not acceptable is being hit with those charges after the fact, if they didn't warn you about these extra charges at any point I'd be digging my heels in b...

I'd agree, any E39 is a beautifully judged compromise between compliant damping and handling with a sliding scale depending which version you go for. It's what makes them so bloody nice to drive, even so long after they were launched. I don't think you'll go wrong with the Billies, they make serious...

I used the FSDs and found them to be really, really good. They did firm the car up a lot, but then it was still running the original shocks when I had them replaced at over 100k miles and, to put it charitably, they were completely shagged. Did the car lose the Alpina "magic" as a result? Maybe, but...

BiTurbo? If so it's not an Alpina specific part, it's from the 123d. Get the part numbers from BMW and shop around for quality OE equivalents from a brand like Sachs and you'll save a fortune.

That does look lovely, MoT history is fairly reassuring too, steering rack weep but it's an E39 so that's pretty standard.

I wouldn't consider the "BMW" dash cam myself, it's half decent but really it's just a generic cam with BMW branding slapped on it and a ton of BMW tax applied. You can do much better for much, much less.
