Re: E39 B10 4.6 V8 #267

I've had a really good look at them recently including taking off the undertrays. I was worried that one of them looked a little crusty but it was just flaking stone chip paint and was solid underneath when I scraped all this off. I soaked them internally a little while ago with a combination of ACF...

Re: E39 B10 4.6 V8 #267

Also makes you wonder: if it needed £8.5k of engine work at 90k, will it need similar at 180k? :think I hope not! My B10 is almost identical to this (apart from the comfort seats) and had a significant engine rebuild at CPC in 2012 at 76k miles, presumably due to the paper head gasket failure. It h...

Re: E39 Alpina B10 V8 parts

Is there any preventative maintenance work that I should look to carry out to keep the engine good ? From my experiences, the biggest problems have been to do with the cooling system. Radiator blew the day I collected it, expansion tank went maybe a year after that. An awkward to do heater hose at ...

Re: E39 Alpina B10 V8 parts

Welcome to B10 ownership! I've used my car as a daily driver at 25k miles per year for 3 years, taking the mileage up to 160k so I've traced an awful lot of niggling faults in that time! (although thankfully nothing too major). They are still a great car to drive, but they are getting old, regardles...

Re: B10 v8 - massive oil leak??

I finally managed to get round to changing the gearbox oil cooler. (Sorry, not many pictures - it was very cold and everything was covered in oil so I was keen to get the job completed and keep my phone oil free!) I priced coolers from various sources but ended up buying one from GSF for around £139...

Re: B10 v8 - massive oil leak??

Hi Henry, I'll have a look at that while I'm in there. Certainly planning on changing the water pump and coolant thermostat while I'm in there so might as well go the whole hog. Hoping to work in the garage, just need to move something out to make space to get working... For what it's worth, I'm col...

Re: B10 v8 - massive oil leak??

Thanks for the info Henry I've spent a couple of cold dark nights trying to have a good poke about in the engine bay but I can't really get good access to look underneath or drop the under-tray (garage is full to bursting!). There's always been a weep at the back of the valve covers and a bit of dam...

B10 v8 - massive oil leak??

I've had the B10 parked up in the garage for around 6 months now while I've been using something newer for work. I went into the garage last night to move the cars around so I could get to the Christmas decorations - started first kick, and apart from a couple of sticky cam followers all seemed fine...

Re: ALPINA PAINT CODE

Hi My B10 is Alpina Blue 2 and 'Dunkelsaphirblau' according to the underbonnet sticker. I've had a few areas repaired / repainted in the last couple of years and these have matched really well. The code I was given is BMW A46 and the attached has the mix details. (Sorry it's upside down - wouldn't g...

Hi

Any guide price for the trims? An d can you confirm which one is cracked - it looks like one of the rear door ones?

Cheers

Just an update to say this is no longer available. After some cajoling, local BMW managed to get Germany to take the prop back, albeit with a handling fee.

Safe to say my estimation of my local BMW dealer has improved quite a bit.

Propshaft - BRAND NEW!

Afternoon All I recently needed to replace the centre support bearing on the prop on my '97 B10 v8 and given the miles, we had assumed the UJ was knocking as well. To minimise the time that the car would be off the road, I decided to take the plunge and buy a complete new prop. As it turned out, we ...

Hi Perry - Sorry to be a late addition, but I've finally managed to update my hardware from MkI to MkIV in my B10 and it would be nice to get the Alpina splash screen. Are you still willing / able to do these?

It's a B10 v8, No. 134 If you're not doing it no probs.

Cheers

Hi Tim - PM sent Sorry - I've run into some unexpected and unwelcome expenditure on the B10 so looking for winter wheels is on hold. Apologies for not getting back sooner - had a problem logging into my account and missed the fact you had added your email. Thanks for all the photo's though - had me ...
